In 2012 the Fair Oaks Racquet Club will celebrate the 50th anniversary playing at Miller Park (corner of Kenneth Avenue and Sunset Avenue). The club members would like to show their appreciation to the community by raising money to improve the courts for generations to come.
Tennis is a family friendly activity and the courts and facilities in Miller Park could use your help. The Racquet Club has partnered with the Fair Oaks Recreation Foundation to raise money for the park improvements. We hope to install a new equipment box for tennis coaches to conduct tennis programs for kids and adults, install shade in the breezeways, get new windscreens that are more attractive for the surrounding home owners, resurface the courts and improve the lights. This year we need $4,000 from the community to match a grant from the United States Tennis Association.
One of the first fund raiser to accomplish these goals will be a round robin tournament October 15 at 8:30 am. This will be a fun tournament for members and any other tennis players who would like to participate.
This event will be a large part of our "fundraising" efforts for this year. There will be rounds of Mixed Doubles tennis with a random draw
among participants, BBQ, drinks, prizes with an entry fee of $35 per person (tax deductible). This event will be open to our members and those who play at Miller Park. All courts at Miller Park will be available for this all day event.
This tournament will be able to accomadate 64 players.
